Stop Resisting Resistance

Out of the blue this morning, the weight of all the immense change in my life got to me.

I sat for an hour and let the emotions that had been building up over the preceding weeks surface and flow.

I cried and cried. I called my husband, cried some more. Texted a friend and cried some more. Went for a long walk and cried the entire way.

And then something powerful happened.

Afterwards, I felt the presence of the change without the pressure of resistance.

Not only was I able to be more accepting of my changing life circumstances — I was able to sit down and do the work I had planned for the day.

It’s easy to allow resistance to keep you from moving forward. But even on the heaviest days — when you meet that resistance with compassion and space — it often cracks you open.

What if resistance isn’t meant to STOP you — but rather to PAUSE you and invite you into a deeper, more honest experience of what you’re doing?

Mid-tears, when I asked my husband, Sibe, “When will this just go away?” he lovingly replied, “It will. And it will come back again and again. And I’ll be here and we’ll do it together. And you’re so smart and loving and lovable and amazing.”

What if you met your resistance with the total love and faith (both in yourself AND the truth that resistance WILL show up again) with the same love that I was met with from Sibe?

Resistance is looking for a fight. It shows up when you’re struggling AGAINST life, against yourself, against your desires, the action you want to take, or the internal feelings begging for some airtime.

It’s looking for a fight because 🤜🏼 fighting breeds struggle. 🤛🏼

When met with love, resistance disappears into awareness and can fuel even more purposeful action.

What are you resisting? What would it look like to meet it with love instead? 💕
